Divination is a tool to help you find the answers you need. There are many forms of divination, the one you choose to master is up to you.
Scrying: This is the oldest form and divination and the most difficult to master. There are no set interpretations, you must rely on your intuition solely. Scrying can be done with water, fire, crystal orbs, mirrors and smoke. There is no single way to scry, this gives you freedom to create your own ritual and your own set of symbolisms/meanings based on experience.
Tarot: A tarot deck is usually a set of 78 cards broken down into the major arcana and minor arcana. The most common deck is called the Rider-Waite deck but there are many types of tarot decks available today! Tarot cards come with general interpretations to help guide you to the answers you seek. There are also many different layouts for the cards, a common layout used is called the “Celtic Cross”. Tarot is great tool to seek answers to complicated questions and can also answer yes/no questions.
Oracle Cards: Oracle decks are cards that offer a general information about a situation or offer insights to the theme’s/ lessons going on around you. There are many decks you can explore.
Runes: Runes can be made from wood or stone with a character written on it. Runes are used to help point your intuition in the right direction. They should be introduced to the situation in question, then asked a specific question regarding it.
Pendulums: The pendulum is the simplest form of divination. You can use a ring on a string, a necklace or purchase a crafted pendulum. Pendulums swing in a specific motion to a denote “yes” “no” or “maybe” answer.
Preparing for Divination Practice:
- Protect yourself and your space: smudging, cast a circle, practice in sacred space
- Ground, Centre and Protect yourself
- Relax and focus on the question/situation
